  • VEGAS...

The Strip, Sin City,  "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...,  these are all words that are commonly associated with Las Vegas and that's where I went on business this past week.   My co-worker and I arrived in Vegas around 10pm.  We stayed at the JW Marriot in Summerlin, which is about 12-15 miles from the strip.  When we arrived at our hotel, they told us that all the regular hotel rooms were gone and that they had to upgrade us to a two bedroom suite... swweeet...   Then they told us that because the suite wasn't fully furnished, they are going to give us each $200 to use however we want at the hotel!!   double swwwweeeeet...   Needless to say that our two bedroom suite was very very very nice and BIG (even though it's not fully furnished).  Since all the restaurants were closed by then, my co-worker and I ordered room service that night and we felt like two rich girls in Vegas.   So what can we do with $200 each to spend at a resort?  I'll give you three clues...S P A.  My co-worker got a facial and massage and I got a pedicure and my hair colored.    I have never felt so pampered....

Tuesday night in Vegas, all my co-workers and I went to an Italian restaurant called Canalletto, which was located inside The Venetian.

The food was mmm... mmm... good.  I ordered this butterflied lobster with garlic and burgundy sauce...

I am drooling just thinking about it right now...

We walked ALL over the strip after dinner.  We visited The Venetian, Ceasar Palace, Bellagio, Paris, New York New York, Mandalay Bay and MGM.  Needless to say, we were VERY tired afterwards.

Wednesday afternoon was for company sponsored activities.  We could pick anything from spa to hiking to different kinds of tours.  My co-worker and I picked horseback riding in the Red Rocks.  It was beautiful up there.  Here is a picture of us on our horses.  My horse was named Baldy.

I know some of you are thinking...I thought she said she went to Vegas on business...yes, my main purpose was for business and I did attend meetings all day Tuesday and part of Wednesday so don't think I didn't do any work.

  • I turned 27 two days ago...*sigh*...I am getting old   I don't want to tell people my age anymore...I've never felt like that before.  However, there is one benefit of being Asian and that is you usually look younger than you really are.  I went to get my hair cut on Wednesday and my stylist was shocked when I told her that I was 27 because she was the same age as me and she looked 35.

Melvin threw me a very nice party on New Years Day.  It was a semi-surprise party cause I knew something was going to happen, but I didn't know what.  He had everyone bring their own special egg rolls, then I had to guess who made which egg rolls.  I think I took about 5 guesses for each egg roll, but it was very creative.   After dinner, some people played the Wii and some of us played the 8 person cancellation spades game that we created awhile back.  Cancellation spades is so fun...I wish we can patent that game.

On my actual birthday, Melvin took me to the city where we spent the day.  We had lunch at Water Tower, then we walked to the ice skating rink at Millenium Park.  We waited over an hour to rent some skates!!   Then because of my lack of coordination, we left after only 20 minutes of skating.  I think Melvin just dragged me around the rink the entire time.  My skates were really hurting my feet, especially my left foot, so I didn't want to move them at all.   Melvin had to return my skates for me when we were done (or more like when I was done) while I sat at the nearest bench because I couldn't even walk to the return counter.  I guess no more skating for me for awhile....  For dinner, Melvin and I went to NoMI's.  I don't think we'll be going back there any time soon.  The food was not very good...at least, I didn't like the entre that I ordered and it is wayyyy too pricey for what you get.  Later on that night, Ernie got me 4 pastries from Vanille Patisseri's.  It was soooooo good.... especially their Chocolate Flourless Cake - vanilla cream, hazelnut crisp, and chocolate bavaroise...mmm....

    Vanille-hazelnut

The only bad part about my birthday was that Melvin got really sick starting Tuesday night.   He is still really sick and I've been working from home to take care of him.  So my usually birthday week turned out to be only 2 days... but Melvin can make it up next week!

  • At the end of October, I went on a business trip with a couple of my co-workers to Orlando, Florida.  We stayed at the Disney Contemporary Resort inside Magic Kingdom.  It was one of the nicest Hotel I've stayed at.  Since it was a forecasting seminar that we went to, we had some free time to kind of enjoy ourselves and have a little fun when we weren't attending classes.  Of course, I had forgotten to bring the charger to my camera, but thanks to my co-worker, I have pictures to share!

Look! Even the cappacino had Mickey's head!

This is inside the Disney Contemporary Resort. There's a monorail that comes right into the hotel to take you to Magic Kingdom and the other Resorts near by.

There was a nice hammock on the beach to relax in.

I think the most embarrassing picture was the picture we took with Cinderella.  We waited in line for almost 20 minutes with the other 10 year old little girls to take the following picture....

Yep, we definitely felt 15 years younger that day, but it was fun.... =P

  • I just got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday so I have been resting at home all day yesterday, all day today and all weekend as well.  So what is there to do when one is at home for so long?  Watch chinese videos, of course!    I am watching a really really good series right now called......  greenforestmyhomelogo

It is now my new favorite chinese series.  The actor in this series is soooooooo CUTE.  Actually, Angela was the one that introduced him to me.  She lent me a series called "Heaven's Wedding Dress" where I started to like this actor so I went to the video store and found the series above.  For those that like Korean or Chinese love dramas, this is one you definitely don't want to miss.  After watching a lot of chinese and korean dramas, this one is different and refreshing!  It's sweet, romantic and it is a story about what true love should really be like.  The actor's name is Leon Jay Williams and here are some pictures of him, as well as a profile of him.
